The
United Palace Theatre, a historic shrine on Upper Broadway,
was built in 1929 as a 3500 seat vaudeville house, then Loew's
converted it into a major movie house until 1969.
At
that time, it was purchased by Rev. Ike , founding pastor of
the Christ United Church. It was the home base for his international
television ministry, and where he still holds Sunday services
today. It has also been the location sight for many movies (some
running currently), Bette Midler's HBO special, many MTV videos
and commercials.
James
and Gwen have been hired to now bring in live entertainment
seasons of theater, dance, and concerts that are diverse, educational,
and that touch the spirit of New York's vast population, as
well as visitors from all over the world. Rev Ike has also asked
for help in planning a School for the Performing Arts, Film
& Film Technology for the large Hispanic and Black communities
that surround the United Palace.
The
job is a terrific opportunity, a great challenge, and a blessing
from God. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
